Cuban Sandwich Recipe

Pork Tenderloin

  • 1 pound pork tenderloin
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin

  • 2 loaves Cuban bread (Italian bread will also work)
  • 1 pound Swiss cheese sliced
  • 1 pound smoked ham sliced
  • 1 cup dill pickles, sliced
  • 1/4 cup mustard
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Pork Tenderloin

  • Set a rimmed baking sheet aside and preheat the oven to 375oF.
  • After the baking sheet is ready, put the pork tenderloin on it. Mix the olive oil, lime juice, orange juice, cloves of garlic, oregano, and cumin in a small bowl and drizzle it over the meat.
  • Cook the beef for 30 to 40 minutes, or until its internal temperature reaches 145º F. Slice the meat thinly and reserve.

  • Each loaf of bread should be split into four equal pieces after being sliced in half lengthwise.
  • Place half of the cheese on the bottom layer of the sandwich bread to start assembling the contents. Add the pickles, sliced pork, and smoked ham on top. Top with the remaining cheese. Brush the upper slice of bread with mustard and slide it onto the sandwich.
  • In a skillet or griddle over medium heat, melt the butter. After adding the sandwiches, push them firmly with the top of a heavy skillet (such as an iron skillet). After toasting, turn the sandwich over and continue.

Do You Have to Use Cuban Bread?

  • This depends on who you ask, but truthfully you can use any soft loaf bread to prepare this sandwich. If the bread is too hard it won’t press easily when cooking it at the end.

Which Pork is Best?

  • This particular recipe calls for pork tenderloin because it’s easier and quicker to prepare than pork shoulder. Either type of pork cut will work and the shoulder can be flavored slightly more than the tenderloin. The choice is yours

Simple Recipe for Cuban Sandwiches

  • The layers in this substantial sandwich are what really make it taste good, and each one has a distinct flavor profile. But the two types of pork are the key element. Pork tenderloin sliced thinly is served with layers upon layers of smoky ham. With its combination of melted Swiss cheese, pork, and the acidic and tangy flavor of pickles and mustard, the Cubano is the ideal sandwich.

  • This sandwich is not only incredibly flavorful, but it’s also quite simple to prepare! You’ll want to eat this sandwich for lunch every week because of how beautifully the various ingredients go together! Additionally, it’s simple to customize and make this uniquely yours. But believe me, when you give this a shot  recipe, it will be your new classic, go-to sandwich of choice!
