Creamy Italian Sausage Pasta

Creamy Italian Sausage Pasta is the comforting, cheesy dish you've been waiting for! Italian flavours and creamy indulgence make this recipe a crowd-pleaser for any occasion! 

– 1 pound Italian sausage – 1 pound pasta  – 2 tablespoons olive oil – 1 medium onion – 3 cloves garlic  – red pepper flake – 1 cup heavy cream – 1 cup Parmesan cheese – salt and pepper – ½ cup fresh basil



Cook pasta until al dente per package instructions. Save 1 cup of pasta water before draining. Set aside pasta.

While pasta cooks, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add Italian sausage and break it up with a spoon until browned and cooked.

Add diced onion, garlic, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes to the skillet. Cook the onion for 5 minutes until translucent.

Reduce heat to medium and add heavy cream. After heating the cream, add the Parmesan.

Stirring continuously will result in a smooth sauce as the cheese melts into the cream.

When the pasta is cooked, add it to the skillet and toss it around to coat it completely in sauce.

If the sauce is too thick, add some of the pasta water that was reserved earlier.

Continue cooking for an additional two to three minutes, or until everything is completely heating up.

Prepare the pasta and serve it hot, garnishing it with fresh basil or parsley that has been chopped.
