Easy Poached Chicken Recipe

An easy meal prep Poached chicken recipe is essential for easy, healthy meals. Add poached chicken to soups, salads, shepherd's pie, or snacks.


– 2 chicken breasts pastured and organic when possible – 4 cups chicken bone broth or coconut milk or filtered water – 3 tsp sea salt


Cover raw chicken breasts with bone broth, water, or coconut milk (about 4 cups) in a stovetop pot.

Step 1

Let boil with lid. Cover and simmer for 8–10 minutes until internal temperature reaches 150. Remove chicken from heat and let cool. 

Step 2

Once cool, shred chicken with hands or a fork. Put the chicken in an airtight container or use it right away.
