Rare coin collectors know the Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle. These were created from 1907 to 1933, but the gold recall of 1933 forced many people to turn in these coins for paper money. Rare coin lists may exclude this. Many Morgan Silver Dollars from 1878 to 1904 and 1921 are still the most expensive coins on eBay, selling for thousands. The most expensive were 1893 coins, of which only 100,000 were made and many were lost or melted. Today, analysts value a great one at $551,272.
