Creamy Millet Porridge With Maple Poached Pears Recipe

I'm exhausted, whether from the weather or Sunday mood. I just want to read or watch TV on the couch today. Despite doing more, I wish I was a cat and worked on the couch. Eat and play with catnip.

Maple poached pear – 2 pears, peeled and sliced into wedge – 120 ml 1/2 cup maple syrup – 1/4 tsp salt – 480 ml 2 cups water Creamy millet porridge – 180 g 1 cup millet, rinsed and drained – 480 ml 2 cups water – 240 ml 1 cup almond milk – 1/4 teaspoon salt

INGREDIENTS

Make poached pears first In a medium saucepan, mix maple syrup, salt, water, and pear wedges. Simmer over medium-high heat. Lower heat to a simmer and cover pan loosely.

INSTRUCTIONS

STEP 1

The pears should be soft and easily punctured with a thin knife after gentle cooking. At their ripest, this can take 10 minutes.

STEP 2

Transfer the fruit to a bowl, but leave the liquid in the pan. Simmer on medium-high heat, stirring often, until it's half its original volume. Pour it over the fruit and let it cool.

STEP 3

Make millet porridge Boil millet, water, almond milk, and salt in a pot over medium heat. Slowly boil millet for 10-15 minutes, stirring periodically to avoid sticking.

STEP 4

You know the millet is done when it puffs up and tastes soft. Serve quickly after removing heat. Serve it in bowls with poached pears, yogurt, honey, and whatever else you desire.
